Hi! I’m Cassidy Nunn, a wedding, equestrian and portrait photographer living the island life just outside of Victoria, BC. I’m a farm/country girl at heart, a wife, mama to River and Reya, an animal lover and passionate photographer.
I was gifted my first film camera at the age of ten and my love of photography has only grown through the years of developing my own film and prints in the darkroom to using digital cameras and learning the complexities of Photoshop.
A connection to photography runs in my family—my Opa passed it along to my mum, who in turn handed it to me. My Mum always took the time to point out poignant details throughout my childhood and this, paired with my background in photojournalism, has helped train my eye to constantly look for beautiful light and meaningful moments.
I’ve been horse crazy since the age of three and I’ve worked hard to keep horses a part of my life. Zappa, my sweet grey Thoroughbred, will be with me forever. He enjoys cross country jumping, rolling in the mud and long naps in the sun.
A good cup of coffee with a side of dark chocolate and snuggles with my daughters make my mornings complete. We share our home with Kieffer, my rescue dog from Belize, who has abnormally large ears and a personality to match. He’s 11 1/2 years old and is still regularly mistaken for a puppy on account of his bounciness and extreme excitability.
I have the most supportive husband, Bryan, who never complains when I ask him to pull the car over because the light is just right and I need to jump out and snap a quick photo.
Continuing my photography education is very important to me; I attend conferences and workshops whenever possible and at the moment I’m learning to shoot video.
I strongly believe in printing your photos – whether that’s hanging them proudly throughout your home or preserving them in a beautiful album.
This is one of my favourite photos in my house—it’s of my Opa and Oma in the late 1940s taken by my great Uncle Franz. This represents so much to me: legacy, family, love, romance, and most importantly connection, to my Oma, who I sadly never met, to a moment in a different time and place that will now live on forever. That is the beauty of photography.
If my work speaks to you, I hope you’ll reach out. I can’t wait to tell your story through powerful images that will last a lifetime.
Although I’m Victoria based, I love to travel and I’ve photographed weddings and other events in Maui, Mexico, Whistler, Calgary and beyond. Please don’t hesitate to inquire if your wedding is outside of the Victoria area—I’d love to be considered!
