Vegas — WPPI

Next week I am off to the Canada Photo Convention in Vancouver (so excited!), which made me realize I never blogged about my time in Vegas at WPPI! I travelled to Las Vegas for the first time at the end of February for the Wedding and Portrait Photographers International Conference. I’d heard about the conference a couple years ago and immediately knew that one day I’d have to make the trek to experience it for myself. My good friend Cassie of Cassie O’Neil Cinematography and I travelled together (Cass-Squared Does Vegas) and we had a blast once we got over the initial culture shock of two Vancouver Island girls hitting the wild and crazy city that doesn’t sleep. As many of you know, I’m quite the country girl, so Vegas was a complete opposite of what I’m used to in life (although I did manage to find just about every horse statue and carousel that exists in Vegas, of course!)

We had a few days to explore the strip before the conference began, which was so great in the end because the conference was full on–days jam packed with classes and the nights with networking events, parties and keynote speakers. There would have been no time for us to really take in Vegas and wow is there ever a lot to see! I packed completely inappropriately (Vegas had snow a couple days before the trip so I thought, yep, I better bring some fall clothing and boots and heels seemed like a good idea for footwear for 7 days in Vegas–won’t be making that mistake again! I’ve never had such a big blister in my life). A highlight of the trip was going to see the show Le Reve at the Wynn Theater–you’ll see some of the photos from it below. The acrobatics were incredible, as was the lighting and overall production and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Vegas.

I learned so much over the course of four days and saw the most inspiring photographs taken by photographers the world over–Vegas, I will be back.

I hope you enjoy the photos!
