I rang in 2017 by photographing my first ever NYE wedding in Alberta for good friends of mine. It had been exceptionally cold (for this wussy west coaster) up until we arrived in Alberta and then for the day of the wedding it warmed up to a balmy -10 degrees Celsius or so. Then it began to snow lightly, just in time for the photos. It was a magical day and one I am so grateful to have been a part of.

 

In early January I photographed my first elopement in Victoria and we had the craziest weather! It began to snow quite heavily, which is something fellow Victorians know is a rarity on the island, but the bride and groom were such troopers and went ahead with having the ceremony and their photo session outside in the snow. Wedding season got under way in May for me and I was busy through to the middle of September photographing all over Victoria and up to Duncan. Once again, I had a season of incredible couples–I can’t thank you all enough for believing in my photography and trusting me with these important memories! I also have to extend my heartfelt thanks to my second photographer, Courtney Clarke, who photographed just about every wedding with me this season. She is talented, kind and inspiring and it was amazing to work with her this year.

 

I am always striving to learn more about photography and continue my education wherever possible. This year I attended the final Canada Photo Convention in Vancouver and left with a notebook full of information and ideas for my business. I’m sad that this conference won’t be continuing but feel blessed to have been able to attend 3 of them over the years. I also took a workshop with the talented Christie Graham Photography in North Vancouver back in October. I learned so much in this one-on-one workshop and we lucked out with some nice weather on the day of the styled shoot.

 

I’m really looking forward to all of my weddings next year (and in 2019–starting to book up for then already!)
