I can’t believe 2015 is coming to a close already! This year I was fortunate enough to photograph so many different types of sessions–from maternity and newborns, to boudoir and horse shows, to weddings and engagements. Below are some of the highlights of what I saw through the lens in 2015 (in no particular order). Some of the photos are my personal work (you’ll notice an abundance of animal photos!), which is something I strive to continue to do on my own time. It keeps me creative and inspired and constantly looking for the best light and the beauty in everyday life.
This year was full of personal photography milestones; I travelled to Vegas to my first ever Weddings and Portrait Photography International (WPPI) conference and spent a week (I accidentally booked my friend and I in for a week in Vegas when we were only going to the conference for 4 days…woops!) absorbing all that I could in the world of portrait photography. It was overwhelming and inspiring all at the same time and I can’t wait to go back again next year. I later attended the Canada Photo Convention in Vancouver in the spring and made some incredible new photographer friends (plus learned a lot as usual)! I recently began renting an indoor studio space in downtown Victoria so I can now offer more in the way of head shots, boudoir and other indoor portraiture. To close the year off, in November I won my first Vancouver Island Wedding Award for Best Group Portrait which was such an honour!
It’s been an exciting year, not without its challenges, but I am so looking forward to all that 2016 will bring. Thank you to my friends and family who are always so supportive of my photography. I really couldn’t have made it through this year without you.
And of course a massive thank you once again to all my incredible clients for putting their trust in me with documenting their special moments. Wishing you all the very best for a happy and healthy new year!
